...or identify it for that matter....
So i was first introduced to Peaches years ago, on a mixed tape made by a friend.... The tape is long gone history....
But a standout out song, that captured me immediately had lyrics like - "Cigarette ashes..., all thats left to remind me....?????....Only time, only time will tell...." At least thats how i remember it..., but i'm now wondering if they aren't 2 different songs.....NEITHER of which i can find hide nor hair of.....
I assumed the names would be "Only Time"..., or "Cigarette Ashes" or "Time Will Tell"..., but no matter where i go..., i don't see ANY songs titles thusly by our lady.......
HELP-!!!!!

The song at that link is NOT the Etta song i can't find...
Beginning to think i'm just flat-out crazy....
Some of the lyrics went something akin to.....
'Cigarette ashes.., are all thats left to remind me.. Of where u were, just a moment ago..."
Then something about how she couldn't tell from his demeanor (totally MY word...), if she would see him again.....
"I felt a chnage.., ohhh, the moment he came.., knocking on my front door..." (Mind u.., paraphrased by me....)
So then the chorus... "Only tiiiime..., only tiiiime.., time will tell ...(background singers)"Time will teeeel..."
PLEEEEEEZE..., one of u Etta-perts (Etta experts) has GOT to know..... I SWEAR I HEARD THIS SONG BY HER.....!!!

Tue, March 6, 2007 - 7:02 PMSee if any of the local record stores have a "Muse" machine - we had one when I worked at Tower in Las Vegas. You could type in lyrics and any songs matching those would list up for you. That's the best I can think of when you're not sure of the title of the song.
Otherwise you can go onto like wherehouse.com and listen to snippetts of Etta songs and see if you can identify it that way. -

I as working in my garden Sunday and listening to my new ipod shuffle (which I love, btw), when this song came on. I wasn't even sure it was Etta 'cause the shuffle has no display to tell you what song you're listening to. That night, I synced it and found, indeed, it was Etta. I'm so glad it was the song you were looking for. -
